Make 2017 the year you liberate your attic, says natural light specialists LB Supplies

Multi Liteleader ImageChristmas is over, 2017’s finally upon us, and we’ve got the prospect of a long, gloomy January ahead of us. But while it’s dark and damp and the weather’s not great, January is also a time for new resolutions and new beginnings – and in a month we’re all craving a bit more natural light in our lives, what better time to turn a little-used but potential-filled space into the lightest, airiest room in your house? Here at LB Supplies, we’re encouraging you to make transforming your attic your New Year’s resolution.

When we’ve been in the same place for a long time, many of us start to get itchy feet – we want something different and new, and thoughts inevitably turn to the possibility of moving. But upping sticks and going to live somewhere else is a hugely complicated business. It’s a huge drain on time, money and energy. Luckily, there’s a much easier way to bring some variety into your life – using an attic conversion to open up a completely new space in your existing home, that you can then turn into whatever you want it to be.

But it’s not just about shaking things up a little. Loft conversions are a savvy move financially, too. “Studies have shown that a loft conversion can add up to 20% to the house value, which equates to adding more than £42,000 to the value of the average property,” comments Adrian Cooper, Sales Director at LB Supplies. “That’s a huge increase – just from renovating the attic and giving it some purpose. With so many homeowners looking for more space, and always looking for ways to improve their house’s value, loft conversions are a relatively cheap and simple way to kill two birds with one stone.”

A study by Nationwide Building Society has found that an extra bathroom can add 5% to the value and an extra bedroom in the attic could yield an increase of 11% or £22,000. Increasing the floor area of the home by just 10% could produce a rise in value by £10,000.
But let’s face it – when they commit to an attic renovation, most homeowners are thinking first and foremost about the more immediate benefits. More space. More light. A new room they can do whatever they like with. Investing in roof window solutions can very quickly and effectively turn a bleak and uninspiring attic into an open, expansive space, positively glowing with natural light.
